Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Hall (ranked 3799 p4p, 322 weight class) and Tyrell Jackson (ranked 3836 p4p, 325 weight class). Jackson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The World is Yours kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Tyrell Jackson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyrell Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hall gets a double leg takedown into Jackson's guard.
Hall wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Hall is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hall stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hall changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jackson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hall wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
Hall tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.
Jackson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hall trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Hall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jackson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hall looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Hall goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jackson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hall's guard! Nice work there by Jackson!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson throws a big right hand that misses.

Hall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.


Jackson is scooting his butt against the ropes and has managed to get back to his feet. Hall presses him back against the ropes, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Jackson scores with a shot to the side of Hall's head.

Jackson is trying to trip Hall. He has hold of a leg but Hall is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jackson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hall pushes a forearm under Jackson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Jackson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryan Hall!
