Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ikeda Toshiyuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Fernandez! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez gets caught napping as Toshiyuki dives in and scores a takedown. Fernandez manages to retain guard. Fernandez kicks Toshiyuki off and gets to his feet. Fernandez misses with a body kick. Toshiyuki fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Fernandez dodges the punch combination from Toshiyuki.
Toshiyuki misses with a double jab.
Fernandez pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Toshiyuki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Fernandez lands with a shot to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Fernandez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Toshiyuki! Fernandez in side control, just content to control the action for now. Fernandez tries to advance to mount but Toshiyuki denies him.

Fernandez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Toshiyuki, pushing him back against the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Fernandez.

Fernandez throws a head kick but Toshiyuki moves out of range.
Toshiyuki appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Toshiyuki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Toshiyuki throws a head kick but Fernandez moves out of range.
Fernandez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Toshiyuki attempts a counter takedown but Fernandez avoids it well and moves away. Toshiyuki misses with a head kick.
Fernandez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Fernandez dodges the punch combination from Toshiyuki.
Toshiyuki throws a body punch but Fernandez moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Toshiyuki tries to keep at a distance but Fernandez has taken the fight into the clinch. Fernandez scores with an uppercut up the middle. Fernandez stalling the fight.
Fernandez prevents a takedown attempt there.
Fernandez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Toshiyuki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Toshiyuki manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Toshiyuki trying to control from half guard but Fernandez is working away. Toshiyuki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Toshiyuki stalling away here and it's allowed Fernandez to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Toshiyuki pushing down on Fernandez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Toshiyuki seems to be working for a kimura but Fernandez defends the submission attempt. Toshiyuki trying to control from half guard but Fernandez is working away. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Fernandez is trying to stand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Toshiyuki sitting and controlling from the half guard. Fernandez is refusing to be controlled, as Toshiyuki sits in half guard. Fernandez wants to get back to full guard. Fernandez is not content to let Toshiyuki control the position. Toshiyuki maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fernandez could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Toshiyuki has cracked it and Fernandez is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Toshiyuki!
