Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Woodyard! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodyard tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Johnson has managed to clinch.
Woodyard misses with an elbow strike.
Johnson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Woodyard.
Woodyard is trying to force a seperation but Johnson has the dominant position. Woodyard looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Woodyard keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Woodyard works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Woodyard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Johnson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Woodyard is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Johnson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Woodyard has momentary wrist control but Johnson slips an elbow through the middle. Woodyard wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment. Johnson slips nicely into half guard. Johnson controlling the pace. Johnson is looking to advance position but Woodyard won't allow it. Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson thows a huge punch but Woodyard dodges it nicely.
Woodyard makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Woodyard. Johnson trying to control but Woodyard is working from the bottom. Johnson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Woodyard struggling a bit here. Johnson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. You can see the frustration on Woodyard's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Johnson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Johnson moves into the clinch. Woodyard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Woodyard misses with some punches.
Woodyard lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Johnson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Woodyard's elbow. Johnson blocks an elbow strike. Woodyard misses with a knee strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Richard Johnson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet. Woodyard gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Woodyard manages to retain guard. Woodyard wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control.
Johnson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Woodyard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Johnson. Woodyard is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Johnson jumps into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson tries to stand but Woodyard is controlling his head. Woodyard being controlled for a moment. Woodyard wants to get back to his feet but Johnson drags him back down. Woodyard tries to bench press Johnson off him but Johnson keeps the position. Woodyard is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Woodyard stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Johnson lands an elbow. Johnson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Woodyard! Woodyard wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Woodyard can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Woodyard looks a forlorn figure.
Johnson landing strikes, looking to finish! Woodyard slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Johnson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Johnson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Johnson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Woodyard. Johnson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Woodyard wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Johnson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Woodyard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Johnson dives in and scores a takedown into Woodyard's guard. Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Johnson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Woodyard tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance. Woodyard delivers a nice body kick. Johnson scores with a takedown into Woodyard's guard. Johnson won't allow Woodyard to sweep him here. Woodyard is adopting a defensive guard. Johnson controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woodyard has momentary wrist control but Johnson slips an elbow through the middle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Richard Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Woodyard thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Woodyard lands a body shot.
Johnson fails with the takedown so Woodyard counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodyard has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from. Johnson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Woodyard can do to turn this around? Johnson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Johnson is looking to cinch up a triangle. Woodyard throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Johnson's body to avoid the submission. Johnson has instead reached around Woodyard's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Johnson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
