Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luigi Bonifacio (ranked 3814 p4p, 371 weight class) and Jake Tate (ranked 4844 p4p, 423 weight class). Bonifacio comes to the cage accompanied by Karate - Kennedy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luigi Bonifacio ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Tate! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tate shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Bonifacio knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tate on the ground. Tate working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Tate with a flurry of punches that miss. Bonifacio looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Tate content to stall in guard here. Tate wants to control from the top but Bonifacio keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tate in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tate throwing strikes from guard but Bonifacio blocks nicely. Tate is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Tate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Tate has his takedown stuffed and Bonifacio counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Bonifacio has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Canucks Combat Club in the buildup to the fight. Tate gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bonifacio counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Luigi Bonifacio is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. No joy there for Bonifacio , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tate misses with a takedown attempt and Bonifacio counters with a nice uppercut. Luigi Bonifacio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Tate. Bonifacio connects with a right hand. Tate shakes it off. Tate gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Bonifacio counter with a right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bonifacio misses with the combination.
Tate wants to counter the offense by Bonifacio and move into the clinch position. Tate fails with a takedown attempt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Tate. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bonifacio managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Tate.
Tate throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Tate tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Tate wants to control but Bonifacio is keeping him busy. Tate might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bonifacio haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tate working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The referee asks Tate politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tate prefers to stall for the moment though. Tate throws a strike aimed at the side of Bonifacio 's head but Bonifacio avoids it well. Tate throwing shots but missing, from side control. Bonifacio on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bonifacio tries to get out of the position. Tate throws an elbow but Bonifacio slips to the side and avoids it well. A lull in the action here as Tate stalls from top position. Tate throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Tate lands a few punches from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tate looks up at the clock and then as Bonifacio takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Tate smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Tate decides to take the fight back to the feet. Bonifacio tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tate was well out of range. Poor timing from Bonifacio . Tate misses with a takedown attempt and Bonifacio counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jake Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tate fails with the takedown and Bonifacio makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Bonifacio scores with a shot to the body.
Tate shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bonifacio sprawls well. Bonifacio wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tate gets slowly back to his feet. Tate looks winded! Tate with a lazy takedown attempt enabling Bonifacio to counter with a crisp jab. Jab from Bonifacio . And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luigi Bonifacio dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Tate fails with the takedown and Bonifacio connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Tate with a poor takedown and Bonifacio counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tate thinking. Tate takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Bonifacio connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tate's hands. Tate with a poor takedown enabling Bonifacio to counter with a crisp jab. Luigi Bonifacio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Tate. Tate misses with a takedown attempt and Bonifacio counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nice body punch from Bonifacio . Bonifacio darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Bonifacio bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Tate's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bonifacio keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Horrible takedown attempt by Tate or perhaps it was just good defense by Bonifacio , which made it look bad.

and Bonifacio counters with a left to the body. Tate is breathing heavily. Tate fails with the takedown letting Bonifacio counter with a right hand. A right-left combo lands from Bonifacio .
Tate is rocked! A lazy left from Bonifacio finds it's target. Tate is still on wobbly legs! Can Bonifacio finish him? Bonifacio lands a nice hook to Tate's body. Tate takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Bonifacio lands with a shot to the body. Donk. Bonifacio catches Tate right on the button with a cross. Bonifacio lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tate at a distance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bonifacio lands a hook that stumbles Tate back into the cage. Bonifacio follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Tate to the canvas! Bonifacio pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Tate has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Luigi Bonifacio ! Luigi Bonifacio tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
