Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ryan Gordon (ranked 5259 p4p, 123 weight class) and Justin Mathew (ranked 3584 p4p, 93 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Justin Mathew! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Gordon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gordon attempts a counter takedown but Mathew avoids it well and moves away. Justin Mathew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gordon rushes Mathew and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Gordon has clasped his hands together around Mathew's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Gordon (4) vs (0) Mathew Gordon looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mathew wants to control but Gordon postures up. Gordon tries to advance to mount but can't. Mathew tries to buck Gordon off but Gordon is having none of it. Mathew trying to remain calm as Gordon controls from the top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gordon has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mathew! Mathew sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Mathew won't allow Gordon to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mathew is trying to get back to full guard. Gordon is looking for a kimura but Mathew is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gordon to get the leverage. Gordon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Gordon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mathew for as long as he can get away with. Gordon seems to be working for a kimura but Mathew defends the submission attempt. Mathew is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mathew is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Gordon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gordon moves to his opponent's back but Mathew bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Gordon. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Gordon (9) vs (2) Mathew Mathew pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gordon is keeping the position for now. Gordon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mathew trying to control the position from guard on top but Gordon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gordon has Mathew pulled in close to control his posture. Gordon keeping moving, preventing Mathew from controlling successfully. Mathew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Mathew looking to pass the guard. Gordon seems keen to control Mathew's posture. Gordon throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gordon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Gordon (11) vs (2) Mathew Mathew trying to control from the bottom.
Gordon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mathew has managed to free his arm - good work. Gordon passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mathew! Score +3 for passing guard: Gordon (14) vs (2) Mathew Mathew is trying to escape the mount but Gordon keeps good control and instead manages to take Mathew's back.
