PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Glass Joe (ranked 501 p4p, 31 weight class) and Henry The Crab (ranked 1577 p4p, 93 weight class). Joe comes to the cage accompanied by La Marseillaise. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Glass Joe!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henry The Crab!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Crab shoots in but Joe avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Joe seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Joe stuffs the takedown.
Joe bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps The Crab's head backwards.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from The Crab.
Glass Joe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry The Crab.
The Crab tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Joe paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Joe's corner calls for a 1-2. Joe obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Joe paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Joe throws a jab but it's blocked by The Crab.
Joe looks to land a right hand but The Crab moved out of range.

The Crab darts in and clinches Joe up against the cage.
Joe looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Joe tries to throw a body punch but The Crab avoids it by throwing Joe back against the cage.
Joe lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The Crab drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Joe doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe misses with the head strike.
Joe tried to land a shot to the body but connects with The Crab's elbow.

The Crab pulls guard.
Joe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Joe stands up from The Crab's guard - Joe perhaps looking for a knockout.
Henry The Crab seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Joe loads up on a big right hand but The Crab slips the punch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from The Crab! But no joy.
Joe scores with a hook to the body. The Crab takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

The Crab feints and as Joe raises his hands in defense, The Crab changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The Crab drops back looking for a leg! Joe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Joe manages to kick The Crab off! The Crab jumps back into Joe's guard.
Joe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The Crab on the ground.
Joe tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The Crab stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Joe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Crab trying to control the position from guard on top but Joe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Crab working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The Crab drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Joe dives on top into guard.


The Crab has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Joe doesn't defend quickly enough and The Crab has managed to lock this one up! Can Joe escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to The Crab on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Henry The Crab!
Henry The Crab is the new bantamweight champion!
Our winner, Henry The Crab, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
