Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Graves!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Wood!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Wood stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Graves throws a combination that misses
and Wood cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wood uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Graves.
Wood was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Graves moves away from the strike by Wood.
Nick Graves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Graves misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Wood counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wood tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Graves is able to avoid easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Graves takes a swing at Wood's ribcage but misses.
Wood appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Graves misses with a hook.
A little jabbing left from Wood on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Graves definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Wood has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Wood counters with a right hand to the body.
Graves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Graves misses with a few strikes there.
Wood replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Graves blocks it well.

and Wood takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Graves shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Graves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wood listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Graves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wood paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wood looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Wood ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wood lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Graves throws a lazy uppercut
and Wood counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Graves throws a jab but it's blocked by Wood.
Wood appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Wood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Graves throws a low kick but Wood avoids it.
Graves wants to clinch but Wood slips to the side
and Wood connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Graves is rocked!
Graves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wood.
A nice side step and Wood releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Oh Graves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Graves rushes Wood and presses him up against the cage.
Graves seems to have got his legs back now.
Graves lands with a right to the head.
Wood tries to work over Graves's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wood tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Graves tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wood with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Wood wants to break the clinch but can't.

Wood breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Graves lands a body shot.

Graves clinches with his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wood misses with a short punch on the inside.
Graves tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wood is trying to push Graves away but Graves has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Graves misses with a hook to the ribs.
Wood can't find room to land a body shot as Graves controls the action.
Graves lands a hook that snaps the head of Wood backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wood tries to work over Graves's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wood pushes Graves back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wood fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Graves blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Graves doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Wood tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wood swings wildly with an uppercut but Graves uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wood swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Graves.
A left hand lands to the body for Graves.
A body shot lands from Graves.
Graves tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Wood working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Graves blocking some punches.
Graves misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wood.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Willie Wood will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Graves pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Wood! But no joy.
Graves has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Wood blocks a jab.
Graves thows a left - swing and a miss!
Wood let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Graves cracks Wood with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Graves tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wood was well out of range. Poor timing from Graves.
Graves tries to clinch up.
Wood is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Graves counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Graves misses with a right hand
and Wood counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Graves on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Wood. Wood obviously looking to wear him down.
Graves tries to score with a low kick but Wood moves his leg out of the way.
Nice jab there from Graves.


Wood is rocked!

Graves clinches up against the cage.
Wood is still on wobbly legs! Can Graves finish him?
Wood fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Wood takes a shot to the head.
A body shot lands from Graves.
Graves unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Wood! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Graves is unloading with more strikes now! Wood drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Graves!
