Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Steve (ranked 425 p4p, 62 weight class) and James Noir (ranked 797 p4p, 107 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Steve! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Noir! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steve clinches up against the cage. Noir tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Steve smiles and moves away.
Noir takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Decent striking displayed by Noir there. Steve throws a right hand that Noir ducks under and follows up with a left that Noir also avoids with ease. Noir swings for the body but Steve moves out of range.

We've been told by Steve's head coaches at Deep waters that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Noir misses with an uppercut. Steve tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Noir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Steve fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Noir, pushing him back against the cage. Steve fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Noir tries to pull guard but Steve forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Noir is trying to pull guard but Steve has him pressed against the cage. Jay Steve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Noir. Noir misses with some punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Noir takes a body punch but keeps moving. Steve tries to close the distance and clinch but Noir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Steve lands with an uppercut that bounces Noir off the cage and back into range. Steve is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Steve tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Noir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Noir stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Noir clobbers Steve with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Noir takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Noir paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Steve wants to clinch. James Noir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Steve lands a lovely overhand right. Steve clinches up with Noir and pushes him back against the cage. Steve misses with a hook to the ribs.

Steve walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Steve lands a nice shot to the body.

The fight stays on the outside here - Steve looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Steve tries to clinch up but Noir circles away and keeps his distance. Steve tries to clinch up. Noir with the counter takedown but Steve avoids it easily. Steve lands with an uppercut that bounces Noir off the cage and back into range. Steve tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A slow jab from Noir misses its intended target. Steve takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Steve tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Noir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Noir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steve swivels and escapes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steve uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Noir has time to react. Steve tries to clinch but Noir moves out of range. Noir changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Steve steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Noir. Steve fails in his attempt to clinch. A little jabbing left from Noir on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. James Noir seems to be getting the better of the standup. Steve tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Noir paws at him with a jab and circles away. Steve connects with a nice looking jab.
Noir takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Steve tries to close the distance and clinch but Noir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jay Steve. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Steve, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
