Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hercules Fortier (ranked 174 p4p, 24 weight class) and Kvame Zulu (ranked 277 p4p, 38 weight class). Zulu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Big Badaboom. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortier wants to clinch but Zulu slips to the side
enabling Zulu to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Hercules Fortier has been cut.
Hercules Fortier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zulu throws a leg kick but Fortier sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Fortier throws a sloppy body shot
and Zulu counters with a nice body shot.
Fortier wants to clinch but Zulu slips to the side
and Zulu counters with a left to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Zulu.
A lazy body kick from Fortier
and Zulu counters with a body kick that stops Fortier in his tracks momentarily.
Zulu scores with a sloppy right hand. Fortier should have avoided that one.
Zulu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fortier gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Zulu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fortier swings away with a leg kick that misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fortier throws a leg kick which misses Zulu's front leg but catches the back leg as Zulu tries to avoid it.

and Zulu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fortier moves into range and connects with a jab.

Fortier takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Fortier shoots for a takedown but Zulu saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Fortier cracks Zulu with a right hand to the side of the head.

Fortier looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zulu scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Fortier throws a right hand that misses
and Zulu counters with a slapping leg kick.
Zulu steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fortier.

Zulu sizes up Fortier with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fortier misses with a body shot
and Zulu counters with a left to the body.
Zulu has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Fortier is breathing heavily.
Zulu lunges at Fortier with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fortier's hand.
A low kick from Fortier misses
and Zulu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hercules Fortier's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Zulu lands with a nice body kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Zulu. That's going to slow Fortier down.
Zulu is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Fortier had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Fortier takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Good leg kick by Zulu there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Zulu lands the left hand.
Fortier throws a lazy body kick
and Zulu counters with a crisp right hand that drops Fortier! Zulu lets Fortier back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Fortier is rocked!
Jeez, Hercules Fortier's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hercules Fortier's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kvame Zulu!
A very excited looking Kvame Zulu rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
