3 - 10 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Islam Makhacevov! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvis Iii lands a leg kick that knocks Makhacevov off balance momentarily. Makhacevov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Makhacevov is keen to just control but Alvis Iii is a slippery customer. Alvis Iii controlling the position for now. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Makhacevov looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Alvis Iii is looking to control Makhacevov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alvis Iii avoid being mounted? Alvis Iii won't allow Makhacevov to pass to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvis Iii is concentrating on defense, preventing Makhacevov from advancing position. Makhacevov is trying to control. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Makhacevov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Makhacevov landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Alvis Iii is looking for a sweep. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Makhacevov trying to control the position but Alvis Iii is working away. Alvis Iii is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Makhacevov off and has taken his back! Makhacevov is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Makhacevov feints and as Alvis Iii raises his hands in defense, Makhacevov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Alvis Iii is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Makhacevov wants to control from the top but Alvis Iii keeps moving. But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Makhacevov, into his guard. Makhacevov wants to stand up but Alvis Iii is controlling him. Makhacevov has a closed guard, preventing Alvis Iii from standing up. Makhacevov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Makhacevov sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Makhacevov gets full guard. Makhacevov has Alvis Iii pulled in close to control his posture. Makhacevov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Alvis Iii trying to control but Makhacevov is working from the bottom. Makhacevov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alvis Iii's guard.

Islam Makhacevov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Alvis Iii sprawls well. Makhacevov darts in looking for a takedown but Alvis Iii gets double underhooks and turns Makhacevov into the ropes. Alvis Iii tries to counter by clinching up but Makhacevov breaks away and moves out of range. A momentary lapse in concentration from Alvis Iii enables Makhacevov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alvis Iii manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Makhacevov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alvis Iii punching from the bottom. Alvis Iii looking to control.
