And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tatu Kurri!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurri closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kluba throws a shot from downtown. Kurri moves away and avoids it.

Kluba gets caught flat footed, as Kurri shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kurri's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kurri throwing strikes from guard but Kluba blocks nicely.
Kluba keeping moving, preventing Kurri from controlling successfully.
Kluba wants to sweep but no luck.
Kluba is trying to control the position but Kurri postures up.
Kurri loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kurri won't allow Kluba to sweep him here.
Kluba is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kurri tries to free his leg and advance position but Kluba is retaining full guard.
Kurri has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kurri postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurri is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kluba has his feet on Kurri's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kluba gets caught napping as Kurri dives in and scores a takedown. Kluba manages to retain guard.
Kluba seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kurri won't allow Kluba to sweep him here.
Kurri works over Kluba with some ground and pound from guard.
Kurri lands a couple of digs.
Kurri controls from within his opponent's guard.

Kurri is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kluba is trying to control the position but Kurri postures up.
Kluba wants to sweep but no luck.
Kurri wants to control from the top but Kluba keeps moving.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kurri with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Kluba has momentary wrist control but Kurri slips an elbow through the middle.
Kluba pulls Kurri in close to prevent any damage.
Kluba looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kurri slips nicely into half guard.
Kluba won't allow Kurri to pass to mount.
Kurri scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Kurri lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Kurri seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kluba is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tatu Kurri!
Tatu Kurri decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
