Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Washington Reis (ranked 4519 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Diaz (ranked 4859 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Washington Reis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xander Diaz! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reis throws a head kick but Diaz moves out of range.
Reis jabbing away but nothing is landing. Diaz is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Diaz scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Reis throws a body kick that misses and Diaz counters with an outside leg kick.
Reis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Diaz scores with a sloppy right hand. Reis should have avoided that one. Diaz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Reis defends well and Diaz ends up having to push Reis into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Diaz throws a lazy head kick and Reis counters with a big head kick but Diaz shrugs it off. Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Reis keeping full guard, as Diaz tries to pass. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Diaz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz is fighting to break Reis's control of his arms but Reis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Diaz wants to stand but Reis is controlling his posture from full guard. Diaz trying to control but Reis is working from the bottom. Reis wants to stand but Diaz is controlling the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Excellent takedown into side control there by Diaz. Reis tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Diaz has the hooks in. Reis is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Even with his hooks in, Diaz manages to miss with strikes from the back. Diaz throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Reis!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Good control from Diaz. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Diaz is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Diaz is striking well from the back but Reis escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being. Reis is looking for a sweep. Diaz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Diaz is keen to just control but Reis is a slippery customer. Diaz is looking to advance position but Reis won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reis is trying to get back to full guard. Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Reis's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Xander Diaz dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Diaz shoots in and bounces Reis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Diaz controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Diaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Reis is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Reis has escaped and now he's on top!
Reis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz wants to control but Reis passes easily into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz gets back to full guard.
Reis wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Diaz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Reis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Diaz wants to sweep but no luck. Reis is in close to Diaz's body, working some short punches and elbows. Diaz controlling Reis's posture. Diaz trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Reis trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Reis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Reis won't allow Diaz to sweep him here. Diaz has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Reis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Diaz. Reis in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Reis off and has taken his back! Xander Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Reis wriggles onto his back under a barage of strikes. Diaz looking to finish with strikes here!

Diaz wants to control the pace but Reis is squirming around nicely. Reis can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reis really wants to buck Diaz off and get back to his feet. Diaz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Diaz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Diaz tries to control but Reis wriggling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Xander Diaz will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Diaz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reis sprawls well initially but Diaz persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Reis kicks off Diaz and gets to his feet. Diaz dives in for a single leg takedown but Reis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A punch lands to the side of Diaz 's head but he takes it in his stride. Diaz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reis quickly recovers to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Reis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Diaz stops Reis from getting back to his feet.
Diaz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Reis sees it coming and defends easily. Diaz is keen to just control but Reis is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reis is trying to control but can't.
Reis misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Diaz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Xander Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Reis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Reis wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Diaz manages to pass to side control. Diaz wants to take a breather but Reis is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz wants to free his trapped foot but Reis is holding on for dear life with his legs. Reis is looking to escape. Reis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Reis tries to kick Diaz off but Diaz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Diaz trying to mount his opponent but Reis defends it. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reis has managed to free his arm - good work. Diaz controlling the action here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Reis feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Diaz's calf. Nice body kick from Reis. Reis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Reis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Reis is looking to counter punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Reis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Washington Reis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xander Diaz. Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Reis just misses with a punch to the body.
Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Reis counters with a leg kick. Washington Reis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Reis connects with a solid leg kick. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reis lands a nice looking body shot.
Reis throws a looping overhand right but Diaz ducks down to avoid it. Xander Diaz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Reis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that's the end of the fight! Washington Reis showed his dominance in that final round. I think Diaz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
