Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patriootti Pate (ranked 1444 p4p, 177 weight class) and Sharven Sheven (ranked 1696 p4p, 210 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheven displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pate throws out the jab.
Sheven doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Patriootti Pate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pate darts in trying to clinch
and Sheven counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Sheven moves out of range as Pate strikes.
Sloppy strikes from Pate. Those never looked like landing.
As Pate backs off Sheven throws a huge counter combo but Pate manages to avoid it all.
Pate misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sheven counters with a body kick.
Pate throws a body kick that misses.
Sheven flicks out a counter leg kick but Pate steps away.
Pate throws a sloppy head kick
and Sheven counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pate plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
No joy there for Pate, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pate fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sheven.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pate looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sheven is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

and Sheven counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Patriootti Pate has been cut.
Pate has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Gangsterdamage in the buildup to the fight.
Pate throws a lazy head kick
and Sheven counters with a big uppercut that knocks Pate off his feet! Sheven dives into side control looking to finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sheven is looking to take a break and control but Pate is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pate on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Sheven swings around for an armbar but Pate sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sheven's guard.

Pate goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Pate lunges at Sheven with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sheven's hand.

and Sheven counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Pate! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Sheven!
