And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Kurt Diesel! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Hell is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kurt Diesel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diesel shoots in and gets a takedown into Hell's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hell (0) vs (2) Diesel The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hell holds on and takes a little breather. Hell looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hell can't keep his opponent in guard - Diesel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Diesel prevents Hell from improving his position. Diesel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diesel is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hell makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hell. Diesel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diesel has Hell in his guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Hell (2) vs (2) Diesel Hell stopping the sweep attempt from Diesel. Hell tries to free his leg and advance position but Diesel is retaining full guard. Diesel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Diesel throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hell escapes and throws Diesel's legs to the side, diving into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Hell (5) vs (2) Diesel
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diesel is trying to get back to half guard. Hell is looking to take a break and control but Diesel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Diesel is looking to reverse the position. Hell moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Diesel is looking to regain half guard here but Hell keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diesel is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hell is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Hell (7) vs (2) Diesel Diesel tries to improve his position but Hell has taken his back! Hell has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Diesel tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Hell pushes Diesel away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
