Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Chester Drawers (ranked 4046 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaia Ky Jr (ranked 799 p4p, 96 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gaia Ky Jr was going to win. Let's see if he was right.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 3 losses; Chester Drawers! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 10 losses; Gaia Ky Jr! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Drawers gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ky Jr to score an easy takedown into full guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Drawers (0) vs (2) Ky Jr Ky Jr slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Drawers (0) vs (5) Ky Jr Drawers manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Drawers (2) vs (5) Ky Jr Drawers seems to be working for a kimura but Ky Jr defends the submission attempt. Drawers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ky Jr is just riding it out for now. Drawers eventually gives up the hold. Ky Jr is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. We've been hearing good reports from Drawers's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Ky Jr felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Drawers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ky Jr sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Drawers is looking to advance position but Ky Jr won't allow it. Drawers is thwarting Ky Jr's attempts to control the position. Ky Jr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Drawers haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Drawers is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ky Jr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Drawers tries to advance to mount but Ky Jr denies him. Ky Jr is looking to regain half guard here but Drawers keeps moving and retains side control.

Ky Jr pulls Drawers in close to prevent any damage. Ky Jr is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Drawers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ky Jr passes into side control, despite Drawers's attempt to control the position.

Drawers is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ky Jr pulls his head out easily. Ky Jr trying to control the pace. Ky Jr is looking to advance position but Drawers won't allow it. Ky Jr wants to free his trapped foot but Drawers is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ky Jr content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Ky Jr is thwarting Drawers's attempts to control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! Ky Jr wins on points by 12 to 11. A less than humble Gaia Ky Jr misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. |
