PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Becker (ranked 2714 p4p, 112 weight class) and Abo Lanch (ranked 3975 p4p, 145 weight class). Lanch has chosen Down River as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Abo Lanch was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brian Becker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Abo Lanch!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Becker lands a head shot.

Lanch looking to score a takedown here. Becker is defending well but Lanch drives through and ends up in Becker's guard.
Lanch throwing strikes from guard but Becker blocks nicely.
Lanch trying to control but Becker is working from the bottom.
Lanch wants to pass the guard but Becker is keeping the position.
Becker on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Becker tries to get out of the position.
Lanch is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lanch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Becker, up you get!
Becker tries to close the distance and clinch but Lanch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lanch.

Becker avoids the head kick by Lanch.
Becker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lanch was well out of range. Poor timing from Becker.

Becker pushes Lanch up against the cage in a clinch.
Becker doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Lanch has Becker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Becker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Becker stops a takedown attempt from Lanch.
Lanch blocking some punches.
Becker throws a head punch that misses.

Lanch pulls guard.
Lanch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lanch looking to control.

Lanch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Becker is aware though and is defending well.
Lanch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Becker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lanch is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Becker is controlling him.

Becker slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Becker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lanch on the ground.
Becker has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lanch is looking to stand back up but Becker counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lanch.

Lanch tries to roll over but Becker keeps him under control.
Lanch is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Becker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Becker's back!

Will Lanch go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Lanch might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Becker haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Lanch is hanging on to Becker's back as he tries to escape.

Becker looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Becker tries to clinch there but Lanch circles away.

Lanch closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lanch decides to pull guard.
Lanch wants to sweep here but Becker controlling him for the moment.
Lanch has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Becker sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Lanch doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lanch manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Becker has a couple of punches blocked by Lanch.
Becker is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Lanch is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Becker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Becker lands with a left to the head.
Becker pushes Lanch back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Lanch pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lanch wants to stand and escape but Becker is having none of it.
Lanch is breathing heavily.
Lanch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Becker won't allow Lanch to sweep him here.
We've been informed that Lanch has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Becker not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Becker.
Abo Lanch has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lanch has his foot on Becker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Becker works his way back into a safe position though.
Lanch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Becker controls the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Becker is looking to clinch but Lanch is avoiding it.
Lanch swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Becker cracks Lanch with a good jab.
Lanch gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Becker wants to clinch up but Lanch keeps it at a distance.
Lanch lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Becker takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Becker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lanch swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Becker scores with a jab to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lanch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Becker as he jumps to the side.
Brian Becker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abo Lanch.

Lanch manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Becker on his heels. He'll look to pass Becker's guard now, I'm sure.
Becker wants to sweep but no luck.
Lanch missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lanch postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Becker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lanch stands and steps away. Becker gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Becker is looking to clinch but Lanch is avoiding it.
Becker wants to clinch.
Lanch pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lanch throws a sloppy head kick and Becker moves out of range easily.
Lanch on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Becker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lanch paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Becker's corner calls for a 1-2. Becker obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Jab, jab by Becker - just one landing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice shot lands for Becker.
Abo Lanch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Becker does no damage.
Becker connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Lanch looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Lanch circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lanch feints the counter takedown.
Lanch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lanch shoots in for a takedown but Becker shows good takedown defense.
Lanch pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Becker wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brian Becker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Lanch is rocked!
Becker closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Lanch out cold! Lanch corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
