And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Tripolini!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tripolini gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodriguez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rodriguez wants to control from the top but Tripolini keeps moving.
Rodriguez showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Rodriguez trying to control but Tripolini is working from the bottom.
Rodriguez has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Rodriguez advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodriguez advances nicely into full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tripolini is working to get back to half guard.

Rodriguez takes Tripolini's back.
Rodriguez tries to get the hooks in deep but Tripolini pushed the leg off.

Tripolini is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
I really don't envy Tripolini right now.
A lull in the action here.
Rodriguez keeps control of the position as Tripolini tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodriguez is cranking Tripolini's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Tripolini! He's tightened the choke and Tripolini is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nick Rodriguez!
