PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Greenfeld (ranked 4991 p4p, 409 weight class) and Koi Kahale (ranked 24183 p4p, 465 weight class). Koi Kahale is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Greenfeld!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Koi Kahale!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greenfeld darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Greenfeld shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kahale as he jumps to the side.
It seemed like Kahale was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Greenfeld closes the distance and clinches.
Kahale tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Greenfeld blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kahale has had enough of the clinch but Greenfeld keeps him there for the moment.
A right handed body shot lands from Greenfeld.
Greenfeld tries a knee to the head but Kahale blocks it.
Greenfeld tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kahale just stands there and leans against the cage.
Greenfeld prevents Kahale from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kahale wants to get back to striking at distance but Greenfeld won't allow it.
Kahale wants to break free but Greenfeld has control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Greenfeld uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Greenfeld looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Greenfeld tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kahale is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Greenfeld looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Greenfeld wants to stand but Kahale is controlling the position.
Greenfeld pulls Kahale in to control the position.
Greenfeld knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kahale on the ground.
Kahale sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Greenfeld's guard.

Kahale is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Still in half guard, Kahale seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kahale works his foot free and advances to mount.

Kahale wants to finish this one by submission but Greenfeld is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kahale.

Kahale moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jeremiah Greenfeld is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A left lands for Kahale.
Kahale connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Greenfeld seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Greenfeld takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Greenfeld misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kahale tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Greenfeld paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kahale displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Greenfeld.
Kahale lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Kahale is looking to clinch but Greenfeld is avoiding it.

Kahale throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Greenfeld has closed the distance and engaged Kahale in a clinch.
Kahale is trying to maintain a safe position but Greenfeld gets an underhook and turns Kahale into the cage.
Greenfeld drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kahale pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kahale lands a jab to the nose.
Kahale tries to clinch but Greenfeld moves out of range.
Kahale's jab looks to have found its range, popping Greenfeld under the eye.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kahale defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Greenfeld.
Kahale has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Greenfeld shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Greenfeld decides to stand back up. Greenfeld steps back and let's Kahale get back to his feet.

Koi Kahale showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kahale clobbers Greenfeld with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
