Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chad Repine (ranked 2016 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Hughs (ranked 2992 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chad Repine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Hughs!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughs ducks under a wild hook from Repine.
Repine lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Hughs gets the takedown into side control.

Hughs looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hughs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Repine tries to improve position but can't.
Repine is working hard here to advance position.
Hughs trying to control the action but Repine is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Repine's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hughs tries for a kimura but Repine is defending well.
Hughs tries to move to mount but Repine blocks the move with his legs.
Repine is letting Hughs control him for a moment.
Repine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hughs on the ground.

Hughs goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Repine rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hughs's guard! Nice work there by Repine!
Hughs seems keen to control Repine's posture.
Repine looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Hughs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Repine is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughs is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Repine trying to move into half guard but instead Hughs has managed to sweep!

Hughs trying to control the position from guard on top but Repine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hughs might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Repine haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hughs works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Repine manages to get to full guard.
Hughs tries to free his leg and advance position but Repine is retaining full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Repine working a defensive guard but Hughs passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughs is controlling the pace.

Hughs seems to be looking for submissions.
Hughs tries to pass to full mount but Repine defends it.
Hughs keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hughs is looking to advance position but Repine won't allow it.
Hughs wants to control but Repine is keeping him busy.
Repine is trying to stand back up but Hughs is controlling him

Hughs is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Repine has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hughs is trying to work for a kimura but Repine is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hughs trying to control the action but Repine is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Hughs dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hughs closes this distance looking for a takedown but Repine circles away.
Repine cracks Hughs with an open hand slap.
Hughs misses with a lunging right hand
and Repine makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Repine fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Repine lands a jab to the head.
Hughs throws a body punch but Repine moves out of range.
Hughs fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hughs fails to land the takedown.
Chad Repine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Hughs.
Hughs misses with a takedown
and Repine counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Repine fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hughs on the side of the head.
Repine takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Repine connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hughs. Hughs circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Repine defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hughs.
Repine lands a nice looking body shot.
Repine scores with a sloppy right hand. Hughs should have avoided that one.


Hughs is rocked!
Repine throws a pinpoint strike between Hughs's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Hughs crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Repine scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chad Repine!
After winning the bout, Chad Repine thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
