Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Average Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nelis Mulder! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Joe swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Mulder looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Mulder is pressing down on Joe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Joe is holding on for now. Mulder wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joe keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joe is trying to get back to full guard. My spies in Buoy Training inform me that Mulder has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Mulder has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mulder jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Joe manages to avoid the submission attempt. Joe is trying to improve his position. Joe is working hard here to advance position. You can see the frustration on Joe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Joe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mulder on the ground. Mulder advances to full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joe is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Mulder has taken his back.

Mulder looking for the choke from the back. We've been hearing good reports from Joe's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Mulder working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Joe is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Mulder has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Joe taps out!
