Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Superfluous Superior (ranked 2364 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quincy Fapple (ranked 1609 p4p, 0 weight class). Quincy Fapple is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Superfluous Superior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Quincy Fapple! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Superior avoids the body shot from Fapple.
Superior seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. The fighters circling - Fapple throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A jab from Superior misses. Fapple jabbing away but nothing is landing. A looping hook to the body misses from Superior. Fapple does a little dance to reset his feet. Fapple throws out a counter right but Superior avoids it with no problem. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Superior. Fapple looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Superior throws a hook to the side of Fapple's head but Fapple sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Superior drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
It looks like Superfluous Superior has been cut. Fapple's coach down at Island Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Fapple's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Superior throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Fapple counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Superior thinking. Fapple swings for the body but Superior moves out of range.
Superfluous Superior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Superior misses with a body punch
and Fapple counters with a lovely straight right hand! Superior throws a poor cross that misses
and Fapple counters with a nice uppercut. Fapple cracks Superior with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Superior looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Fapple finish him?
Fapple looks to land a left hand but Superior moved out of range nicely. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Superior looking to score a takedown here. Fapple is defending well but Superior drives through and ends up in Fapple's guard. Fapple keeping full guard, as Superior tries to pass. Superior trying to control the position from guard on top but Fapple is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Superior slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Superior tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Superior has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Superior has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fapple is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Superior yanks on the arm and Fapple is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Superior.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Superfluous Superior! Superfluous Superior decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
