Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maybe Black Belt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Shufutinskiy! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shufutinskiy throws the left hand but Black Belt avoids the punch easily. Black Belt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Shufutinskiy controlling Black Belt's posture. Shufutinskiy can't keep his opponent in guard - Black Belt advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We've been hearing good reports from Black Belt's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Black Belt content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Shufutinskiy wants to get back to full guard. Black Belt is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Black Belt controlling from the full mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Black Belt has hold of Shufutinskiy's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Shufutinskiy manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shufutinskiy wants to control but Black Belt is having none of it. Black Belt is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Shufutinskiy can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Black Belt jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Shufutinskiy manages to avoid the submission attempt. Shufutinskiy tries to get back to half guard but can't. Black Belt working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Black Belt controls the position. Shufutinskiy tries to improve position but can't. Black Belt controls the position from side control. Black Belt has hold of Shufutinskiy's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Shufutinskiy seems comfortable defending it but Black Belt has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Shufutinskiy is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Shufutinskiy is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Black Belt couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Maybe Black Belt!
