Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Henry Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ivan Mikhailov!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hines misses with a hook.
Mikhailov misses with a takedown attempt - Hines sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hines ducks under a wild hook from Mikhailov.
Hines uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mikhailov.
Mikhailov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hines swings for the body but Mikhailov moves out of range.

Hines scores with a takedown into Mikhailov's guard.

Mikhailov wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hines drops back looking for a leg! Mikhailov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mikhailov manages to kick Hines off! Hines jumps back into Mikhailov's guard.

Mikhailov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hines is trying to work for a kimura but Mikhailov is defending well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hines is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mikhailov is just riding it out for now. Hines eventually gives up the hold.
Mikhailov tries to get to full guard but Hines has control of the leg.

Mikhailov won't allow Hines to pass to mount.
Mikhailov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mikhailov.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hines is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mikhailov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hines can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mikhailov controls Hines momentarily but Hines frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hines closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mikhailov's guard.

Mikhailov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mikhailov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Mikhailov can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Mikhailov's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Mikhailov throws a series of strikes and Hines wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.

Mikhailov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hines is looking for a triangle but Mikhailov pushes his legs off easily.
Mikhailov won't allow Hines to sweep him here.

Mikhailov content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Hines has locked up a guillotine! Hines's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mikhailov is holding on here and Hines must be using up a lot of energy. Mikhailov has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Hines gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
