PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Boss (ranked 4582 p4p, 454 weight class) and John Malone (ranked 2602 p4p, 308 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Hugo Boss has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Hugo Boss seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Malone. That snapped Boss's head back.
Malone connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Malone throws an off balance right hand
and Boss counters with a nice low kick that buckles Malone's knee momentarily.
Malone jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Malone cracks Boss with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Malone has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Boss to stand back up!

Boss is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Malone throws a jab when Boss was well out of range.
Malone looks to land a right hand but Boss moved out of range.
Boss looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Boss throws a quick counter head kick but Malone was just out of range.
Boss moves out of range as Malone strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boss is defended easily by Malone.

and Boss counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Boss tries to pass the half guard into mount. Malone knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boss trying to work for an americana but Malone has managed to regain full guard.
Boss distracts Malone with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Malone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Malone felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
