PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Henderson (ranked 4677 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Craine (ranked 5107 p4p, 0 weight class). Craine has chosen OMB Peezy - Lay Down as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christian Craine!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henderson lands with a hook. Craine tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Henderson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Henderson tries for a takedown but Craine sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Craine gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Henderson jumps guard but Craine turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Henderson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Craine has him pressed against the cage.
Henderson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Craine tries to pull guard but Henderson won't allow it.

Henderson manages to break the clinch.
Craine shoots in looking for a takedown. Henderson tries to sprawl out of it but Craine keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henderson tries to clinch but Craine moves out of range.
Henderson looks to land a combination but Craine avoids it well.
Christian Craine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Craine shoots in but no luck this time.
Jimmy Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christian Craine.
A combination from Craine does no damage.
Henderson seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Henderson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Craine moves into the clinch.

Henderson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Craine clinches up against the cage.
Henderson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Craine can't get the takedown.

Craine pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Craine in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Henderson is trying to stand back up but Craine is controlling him

Craine stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Henderson throws a push kick but Craine slaps the foot to one side.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Henderson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Henderson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Craine fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Craine rushes Henderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Henderson breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Henderson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Craine smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Craine is trying hard to land a takedown here. Henderson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Henderson throws an overhand right that lands on Craine's shoulder, as Craine tries to avoid the shot.

Craine shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Craine showed some decent athleticism there.

Henderson manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Henderson is breathing heavily.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Henderson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Craine tries to pull guard but Henderson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Craine jumps into guard, dragging Henderson to the mat.
Henderson wants to pass the guard but Craine is keeping the position.
Henderson trying to control but Craine is working from the bottom.
Henderson wants to get up but he can't break Craine's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Craine keeping moving, preventing Henderson from controlling successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Craine can do anything to dispel that myth.

Craine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Craine misses with a double jab.

Craine shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Craine controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Craine is nestled in close to Henderson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Craine passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Henderson!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Henderson is trying to stand.
Craine fails to advance to Henderson's back.
Henderson is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Craine tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Craine content just to control the position here.
Henderson is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Craine lands a heavy elbow.
Henderson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Craine's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Craine lands with some strikes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Craine avoids the attempt from Henderson to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christian Craine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Henderson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Craine.
A quick step to the side and Henderson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Craine misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jimmy Henderson is winning the standup battle so far.
Henderson avoids the head kick by Craine.

Craine fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Henderson, pushing him back against the cage.
Henderson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Craine manages to break the clinch.
Craine fails with a takedown attempt.
Henderson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henderson shoots in for a takedown but Craine shows good takedown defense.

Henderson tries to keep at a distance but Craine has taken the fight into the clinch.

Craine breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Good exchange - Henderson coming out on top.
Henderson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Craine doesn't seem bothered though.

Henderson dips to his left and cracks Craine with an uppercut!

Craine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Henderson was covering up waiting for the punch and Craine finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Craine stands up and waves to Henderson to follow him.

Craine closes the distance and clinches up with Henderson, looking for a takedown. Craine pushes Henderson against the cage but Henderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Craine tries to clinch up but Henderson circles away and keeps his distance.
As Craine looks to move away, Henderson throws a big counter combo but Craine just gets out of the way.
Craine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Henderson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Henderson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Craine tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Henderson defends well and Craine ends up having to push Henderson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Craine steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Henderson.
Henderson lands with a kick to the ribs.

Henderson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Craine swivels and escapes.
Craine shoots for a double leg takedown but Henderson sprawls well. He's pushed Craine's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck for Craine with that takedown attempt.
Craine walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Henderson stuffs the takedown attempt from Craine. Craine gets slowly back to his feet.

Henderson pushes Craine away with a front kick.
Henderson looks to land a combination. Craine sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Henderson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Craine manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Henderson stands up and waves to Craine to follow him.
Henderson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimmy Henderson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Henderson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
