Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Peter OBrien (ranked 5964 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jin Chai (ranked 4930 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Peter OBrien! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Jin Chai! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Chai tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. OBrien manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. OBrien definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. OBrien avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chai clinches up against the cage. Chai gets control of OBrien's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chai will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. OBrien drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chai dives on top into guard. OBrien pulls Chai in close to his closed guard and prevents Chai from doing any damage or advancing position. OBrien knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chai on the ground.

OBrien really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Chai tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. OBrien manages to control the position for a moment. Chai is going oldschool here, as he tries to force OBrien to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so OBrien shrugs it off. OBrien tries to lock up and control but Chai gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. OBrien is trying to escape the mount.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. OBrien is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. OBrien looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. OBrien reaches up to try and control the position but Chai seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! OBrien rolls and tries to escape and now Chai has his back!

OBrien prefers to stall for the moment though. OBrien swings around for an armbar but Chai sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into OBrien's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: OBrien (7) vs (20) Chai Chai is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Chai trying to control but OBrien is working from the bottom. OBrien controls Chai momentarily but Chai frees himself.

OBrien looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Chai puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Chai is trying to control the action in half guard but OBrien is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. OBrien looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. Chai is trying to control the action in half guard but OBrien is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chai might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control OBrien haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that's the end of the fight! Chai wins on points by 23 to 7. A very excited looking Jin Chai made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. |
