These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapierre shoots in looking for a takedown. Woodley tries to sprawl out of it but Lapierre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woodley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lapierre looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Woodley's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Woodley duly obliges.
Woodley throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Woodley works Lapierre's body with a nice hook.
Woodley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Woodley misses with a body kick.
Lapierre half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Woodley throws a head kick that half lands.
Woodley lands a big right hook! Lapierre looks hurt but is still standing! Woodley lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Lapierre falls down and Woodley dives in with a huge hammer fist! Lapierre's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Woodley runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Darren Woodley!
