Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Pettis (ranked 5395 p4p, 393 weight class) and Preston Patterson (ranked 5733 p4p, 403 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rodrigo Pettis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Preston Patterson! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettis throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Patterson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Pettis lands a jab to Patterson's midsection. Pettis connects with a nice looking jab.
Pettis misses with a hook. Patterson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Pettis with a hook. Pettis scores with a decent looking hook. Pettis throws a big shot that misses. Patterson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pettis defends it well. Pettis works the jab nicely. Rodrigo Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pettis throws a body shot but no joy. Patterson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pettis defends it nicely. Pettis misses with an uppercut. Pettis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Patterson circles away quickly and effectively. Patterson walks into a jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pettis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Patterson was well out of range. Poor timing from Pettis.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis missing with a left hand there. Patterson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pettis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat. Pettis throws a hook to the side of Patterson's head but Patterson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Patterson with the counter takedown but Pettis avoids it easily. Patterson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Patterson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pettis finds it's way round the side to connect with Patterson's head. Pettis throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Patterson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

and Patterson counters with a takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pettis pushes Patterson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Patterson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Pettis is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pettis keeps working. Patterson is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Pettis is trying to escape and Patterson transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Pettis is forced to tap! Nice work there by Patterson! Very nice indeed!
