Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wrestle Guy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wreak Havoc ! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Havoc cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Wrestle Guy has been cut. Havoc takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Guy shoots in looking for a takedown. Havoc tries to sprawl out of it but Guy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Havoc manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Guy misses with a takedown attempt and Havoc counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wrestle Guy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Guy slips a straight right by Havoc . Guy swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Guy throws a body shot but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Havoc lands with a right hand. Guy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Havoc counters with a straight right hand.
Guy is rocked! Havoc has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Havoc moves away from the strike by Guy. Havoc has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Havoc swinging wildly here.
Guy shoots in and bounces Havoc off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Havoc is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Havoc can't keep his opponent in guard - Guy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Havoc is looking to control Guy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Havoc avoid being mounted? Havoc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Guy seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Guy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've been hearing good reports from Guy's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Guy passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Havoc ! Guy has hold of Havoc 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Havoc manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Guy seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Havoc is holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guy moves to the back. Guy is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Havoc taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wrestle Guy! After winning the bout, Wrestle Guy thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
