Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thomas Baba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mark Hines! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hines looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Baba is fending him off so far but Hines persists. Nope, Baba circles away and we're back to standing. Baba connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Mark Hines has been cut. Hines moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hines. Hines tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Hines is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Baba has escaped the position, nice work there. Hines looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hines working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hines in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. The ground and pound from Hines seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. That's one minute gone in the round. Baba wants to control but Hines postures up. Hines tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Baba dodges the ground and pound from Hines. Hines cracks Baba with a big elbow. Hines lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Baba parries the strikes from Hines easily there. Hines is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Baba to escape.

Baba has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Baba knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hines on the ground. Hines postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Hines lands some shots froms side control. Hines tries for a kimura but Baba is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baba is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hines is looking to take a break and control but Baba is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hines lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Hines sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Baba is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hines lands some shots froms side control.
Baba is rocked! Hines scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Baba is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hines can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
