Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucius Seneca! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harnett Mckleskin! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mckleskin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mckleskin throws a lazy body kick and Seneca counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Seneca. Seneca is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mckleskin can't fight it off and eventually Seneca manages to take the fight to the floor. Mckleskin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Seneca postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mckleskin scores with a short punch from the bottom. Seneca content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Mckleskin keeping moving, preventing Seneca from controlling successfully. Seneca has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Mckleskin is trying to keep Seneca in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mckleskin pulls Seneca in close to prevent any damage. Mckleskin controls Seneca momentarily but Seneca frees himself. Seneca working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seneca engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Mckleskin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Seneca. Mckleskin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Seneca has his hands clasped together but Mckleskin extends and breaks Seneca's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mckleskin.
