Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan De Jong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daron Gunner! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Gunner does no damage. A combination from De Jong does no damage. De Jong has a takedown stuffed. De Jong takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Gunner misses with a wild combination.
De Jong throws a big counter combination but Gunner scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Gunner misses with a wild combination.
De Jong appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Gunner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gunner lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Gunner throws a right and a left that both miss. Gunner lands a nice shot to the body.
Gunner tries to bum rush De Jong with a series of wild strikes but De Jong uses good footwork to avoid the assault. De Jong looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gunner is fending him off so far but De Jong persists. Nope, Gunner circles away and we're back to standing. Daron Gunner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Jong has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Gunner throws a right and a left that both miss. Gunner misses with a double jab.
Good exchange - Gunner coming out on top. Gunner uses good head movement to avoid the hook from De Jong. Gunner throws a wild combination but nothing lands. De Jong avoids a punch combination nicely.
De Jong feinted with a counter takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. De Jong tries to pull guard but Gunner won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stefan De Jong. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gunner breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. De Jong moves into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Gunner's face as he tries to break the clinch. De Jong has Gunner pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. De Jong pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gunner tumbling to the mat - De Jong dives into Gunner's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! De Jong drops back looking for a leg! Gunner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gunner manages to kick De Jong off! De Jong jumps back into Gunner's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gunner can do anything to dispel that myth. Gunner is wriggling around but De Jong manages to pass to half guard.
Gunner has hold of De Jong's hands but De Jong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. De Jong slips a nice elbow through Gunner's hands, connecting with Gunner's forehead. De Jong works his way into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Jong looking to control but Gunner is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. De Jong dominating with strikes here. Gunner defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from De Jong. Gunner is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Gunner looks winded! Gunner tries to buck De Jong off so he can stand up but De Jong has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Gunner falls backwards, slamming De Jong to the mat but De Jong holds on tight! Gunner is forced to tap and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Stefan De Jong! Our winner, Stefan De Jong, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. Daron Gunner was interviewed post fight and said 'I would like to thank everyone for coming out and I'm sorry I couldn't get the job done. I will be back!'.
