PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tyrell Reed (ranked 4724 p4p, 234 weight class) and Granite Chin (ranked 4578 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Reed might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Deal Wiv It. Granite Chin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyrell Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Granite Chin!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Reed checks a low kick from Chin.
Reed throws a head kick that misses.
Reed will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Chin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Reed.
Chin lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Chin misses with an uppercut.
Chin moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Some wild striking there from Reed.

Reed looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Reed is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Reed throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Reed stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Chin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reed is aware though and is defending well.
Reed controls from within his opponent's guard.

Reed gets to his feet - Chin follows without any prompting.

Reed shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Reed is nestled in close to Chin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Chin tries to get to full guard but Reed has control of the leg.

Reed is looking for a kimura here.

Reed missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Reed winds up and cracks Chin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Chin wants to control but Reed passes into side.
Chin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Reed connects with a decent elbow.

Reed is trying to get an arm triangle but Chin is defending well.
Chin struggling a bit here.

Reed lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Chin taking punishment in the form of punches.
Reed working away.
Reed gets to mount! Chin was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Reed is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Reed landing strikes, looking to finish!
Reed looking to finish Chin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Chin!
Chin tries to lock up and control but Reed gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Reed connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Reed wants to finish this one by submission but Chin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Reed.
Reed is breathing heavily.
Reed tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Chin is working to get back to half guard.
Chin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reed. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reed landing strikes from the mount and Chin is in trouble!
Reed avoids the attempt from Chin to control.
Reed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Reed controlling from mount.
Chin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyrell Reed dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Reed takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Reed uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Chin.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Reed.
Chin wants to control but Reed postures up.

Reed stands up and beckons Chin to his feet.
Chin with a nice cross.
Tyrell Reed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice uppercut there from Chin.
Chin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reed.
A quick step to the side and Reed tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reed throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chin throws a front kick aimed at Reed's knee but Reed avoids it well.
Reed is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A swing and a miss from Chin.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Chin checks a leg kick.
Chin throws the left hand but Reed avoids the punch easily.

Reed throws a leg kick that is checked
and Chin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Reed shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Chin is breathing heavily.
Chin is looking for a sweep. Reed is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Reed passes the guard and advances to mount!
Reed postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Chin looks a forlorn figure.
Reed sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Chin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed landing strikes from the mount.
Reed lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Chin hang on?
Reed postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Chin looks a forlorn figure.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reed controlling the pace for now.
Reed lands a nice shot to the head.

Chin is bucking up trying to escape but Reed cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Reed tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Reed landing strikes from the mount and Chin is in trouble!


Chin is rocked!

Chin defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Reed.
Chin is still in real trouble! Can Reed finish him?
Reed cracks Chin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Reed lands with some strikes.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Reed! Chin is hurt baaadly! Reed is firing away with more strikes - Chin is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyrell Reed!
