Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nelis Mulder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Bessant! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mulder moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Bessant throws a right hand that Mulder ducks under and follows up with a left that Mulder also avoids with ease. Bessant connects with a right hand. Mulder shakes it off. Mulder tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bessant swivels and escapes. Bessant has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Mulder misses with a left hand and Bessant counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mulder moves in looking to clinch but Bessant pushes him off. A countering left hand to the body from Bessant misses. Mulder shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bessant is trying to defend but Mulder finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bessant tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mulder manages to move to mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bessant can do anything to dispel that myth. This has been an exciting period of action! Mulder moves to the back position. Bessant won't enjoy being in this position. Mulder looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Bessant is tapping - it's over boys! Mulder picks up the submission victory!
