The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Himes moves away.
Himes has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Island Sparring in the buildup to the fight.

Rodd takes a swing at Himes's ribcage but misses.
Himes thumps Rodd with a low kick.
Rodd ducks right into an uppercut from Himes.

Rodd sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Himes's guard.

Rodd wants to pass to mount but Himes is defending the position.
Rodd wants to work for an arm triangle but Himes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
John Rodd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I would just about give that final round to John Rodd.
