Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kristaps Zutis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dante Black!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zutis shoots and misses
and Black counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Black with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Black has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Zutis is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Zutis misses with a takedown
and Black counters with a low kick, right behind Zutis 's knee.
Black lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Kristaps Zutis has been cut.
Zutis fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kristaps Zutis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Black bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zutis's head backwards.
Zutis shoots in for a takedown but Black shows good takedown defense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Black lands a front kick.
Zutis is breathing heavily.
Black connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Black lands a nice shot that snaps Zutis's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Black cracks Zutis with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Zutis looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Black finish him?
Zutis is rocked!
Black lands a nice looking body shot.
Oh Zutis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Zutis is aggressively charging in as Black backs up avoiding any damage. Black tosses out a jab and Zutis runs right into it face first! Zutis is out cold! Black dropped down on all fours and is barking in Zutis's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dante Black!
Our winner, Dante Black, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
