Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kamaru Usman (ranked 2426 p4p, 281 weight class) and Quincy Fapple (ranked 1887 p4p, 228 weight class). Quincy Fapple has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Usman misses with a looping right.
Usman shoots in looking for a takedown. Fapple tries to sprawl out of it but Usman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fapple manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fapple is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Fapple counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Fapple's coach down at Navy Street MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Fapple's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Usman shoots in but Fapple avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Fapple shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Usman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fapple can do anything to dispel that myth.

Usman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fapple looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fapple is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Usman has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Usman has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fapple is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Usman yanks on the arm and Fapple is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Usman.
