Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Newton (ranked 782 p4p, 105 weight class) and Cole Orion (ranked 1497 p4p, 184 weight class). Orion comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 20 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Newton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
39 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cole Orion! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Orion throws a left and a right that both miss
and Newton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Newton. Orion is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Newton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Newton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newton looking to pass the guard. Newton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Newton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Orion throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Orion trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Newton has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Newton looking to pass the guard. Newton won't allow Orion to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Newton advances position into side control! Orion throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Orion tries to buck Newton off but Newton is having none of it. Newton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Orion, who protects the arm well. Newton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Orion knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Orion tries to buck Newton off but Newton is having none of it. Orion manages to get back to half guard. Orion tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Newton uses his free foot to push down on Orion's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Orion. Orion tries to reverse the position but Newton maintains control. Newton is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Orion to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Orion shrugs it off. Newton swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
