Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 2303 p4p, 268 weight class) and Vito Mazzini (ranked 1637 p4p, 201 weight class). Gracie comes to the ring accompanied by Jiu Jitsu by Smoke Serpent. Mazzini has chosen Fade To Black as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 4 losses; Royce Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 9 losses; Vito Mazzini! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Mazzini looking to score a takedown here. Gracie is defending well but Mazzini drives through and ends up in Gracie's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracie (0) vs (2) Mazzini Gracie keeping moving, preventing Mazzini from controlling successfully. Mazzini works a leg free and moves into half guard. Mazzini trying to mount his opponent but Gracie defends it. Mazzini wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working. Mazzini is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mazzini might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gracie haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Gracie is looking to control Mazzini's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted?

Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Mazzini is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gracie moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Mazzini is looking to regain half guard here but Gracie keeps moving and retains side control. Gracie won't allow Mazzini to sweep him here. Mazzini lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Mazzini is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mazzini is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mazzini moves into full guard.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Mazzini trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Mazzini slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gracie regains half guard there - taking advantage of Mazzini's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Mazzini content to control rather than advance. Gracie preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Mazzini wants to free his trapped foot but Gracie is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Mazzini seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mazzini slows the pace down in half guard. Mazzini tries to pass to full mount but Gracie defends it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Mazzini is trying to control the action in half guard but Gracie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Mazzini is controlling the pace.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Mazzini looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mazzini trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom. Mazzini is looking to advance position but Gracie won't allow it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
