PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aloisia Alvar (ranked 2032 p4p, 258 weight class) and Tobias Orion (ranked 1320 p4p, 188 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvar shoots for a takedown but Orion saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Orion fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alvar to the ground. Orion is now in Alvar's guard.

Orion tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvar is retaining full guard.

Orion stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Orion is taking a breather. Alvar says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alvar is looking for a sweep. Orion is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Alvar is staying active underneath Orion, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Orion shoots in looking for a takedown. Alvar tries to sprawl out of it but Orion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alvar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's time! Alvar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Alvar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orion as he avoids it easily.
Orion throws a fast counter high kick but Alvar manages to duck under it in time.
Tobias Orion is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alvar shoots in looking for a takedown but Orion manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alvar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Orion tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alvar paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Orion breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Orion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Orion lands in his opponent's guard.
Alvar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Orion controls the pace.

Alvar has his foot on Orion's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Orion works his way back into a safe position though.

Alvar is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Alvar gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Alvar gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Alvar apologises and we restart here on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Orion enables Alvar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Orion manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Orion takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Well Orion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
