PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hans Peter Baxxter (ranked 3569 p4p, 347 weight class) and Dominic Triggs (ranked 5659 p4p, 436 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hans Peter Baxxter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dominic Triggs!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Triggs tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Baxxter counters with a right hand to the body.
Baxxter connects with a single shot there.
Baxxter cracks Triggs with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Triggs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Triggs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Baxxter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Triggs gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Triggs throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Baxxter counters with a nice uppercut.
Triggs takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Triggs misses with a takedown
and Baxxter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Triggs looks to land a combination but Baxxter avoids it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Triggs walks into a jab.
Triggs's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Baxxter connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Triggs scrambles back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Triggs swings away with a body shot that misses
and Baxxter counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Triggs steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Baxxter. That one must have hurt.
Jab, jab by Baxxter - just one landing.
Triggs throws a lazy uppercut
and Baxxter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Triggs fails with the takedown
and Baxxter counters with a stiff right hand.
Triggs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hans Peter Baxxter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dominic Triggs.
Triggs throws a left and a right that both miss
and Baxxter counters with a stiff right hand.
Triggs shoots in for a double leg but Baxxter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Baxxter digs a good hook to Triggs's body.
Baxxter scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Triggs tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Baxxter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baxxter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Triggs has his takedown stuffed
and Baxxter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Triggs misses with a takedown
and Baxxter counters with a big head kick but Triggs shrugs it off.
Triggs looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Triggs fails with the takedown
and Baxxter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Triggs thinking.
Baxxter lands a nice looking body shot.
Triggs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Baxxter counter with a right hand.
Triggs tries to clinch but Baxxter moves away
and Baxxter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Triggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baxxter but Baxxter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Baxxter is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Triggs misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Baxxter counter with a right hand.
Baxxter with a hook.
Dominic Triggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Triggs walks into a straight right hand from Baxxter.
A head kick by Triggs misses
and Baxxter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Triggs shoots and misses
enabling Baxxter to counter with a crisp jab.
Triggs throws a lazy head kick
and Baxxter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Triggs shoots and misses
and Baxxter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Triggs looks winded!
Triggs tries to clinch
and Baxxter finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baxxter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Triggs on the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Baxxter scores with a nice head shot.
Hans Peter Baxxter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Triggs has his takedown stuffed

and Baxxter counters with a nice right hand that sends Triggs toppling to the canvas! Triggs scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Baxxter finish him?!


Triggs is rocked!


It looks like Dominic Triggs has been cut.
Crunch! Baxxter slams his shin into Triggs's torso.
Triggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Baxxter finish him?
Triggs fails with the takedown
and Baxxter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Triggs thinking.
Triggs seems to have recovered his senses.
Baxxter lands a really nice looking cross but Triggs seems unphased.
Baxxter thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Triggs if he has to take too many more of those.

and Baxxter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Baxxter swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Triggs.

Baxxter lands a big uppercut and Triggs crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Triggs looks OK. Baxxter waves Triggs back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hans Peter Baxxter dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dominic Triggs's cut.
That's time! Baxxter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Baxxter throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Triggs is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Hans Peter Baxxter!
Hans Peter Baxxter very nearly forgot to thank Voodoo Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
