Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Cass (ranked 6189 p4p, 425 weight class) and Tony Vespuci (ranked 6075 p4p, 423 weight class). Jacob Cass has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Cass! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Vespuci! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cass shoots for a takedown but Vespuci saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Cass moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Vespuci closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vespuci lands in his opponent's guard. Cass keeping moving, preventing Vespuci from controlling successfully. Cass is looking for a triangle but Vespuci pushes his legs off easily.
Cass is working an open guard so Vespuci takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Cass stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cass wants it to stay on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cass gets a clinch. Vespuci has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cass is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Nice body punch from Cass - that landed with a thud.
Cass turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cass manages to end up in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vespuci is trying to improve his position. Cass decides to take the fight back to the feet. Cass has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Roosters Coop in the buildup to the fight. Vespuci fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cass sprawls well initially but Vespuci persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cass makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Nice takedown defense from Vespuci. No joy for Cass on that attempt. Cass is breathing heavily. Vespuci will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jacob Cass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Vespuci. Vespuci fails with a takedown attempt. Vespuci shoots for a double leg takedown but Cass sprawls well. He's pushed Vespuci's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cass fails with an attempt to clinch.
Vespuci scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Vespuci is trying to work for a kimura but Cass is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cass kicks Vespuci off and gets back to his feet. Vespuci misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. No luck with that takedown attempt from Cass. Cass clinches up with Vespuci and pushes him back against the cage. Cass's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. A head kick by Cass misses and Vespuci counters with a shoot takedown. Cass fights it but they end up in guard. Cass is pulling down on Vespuci's head. It's preventing any offense from Vespuci, at least for the moment. Vespuci passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vespuci is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cass is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. You can see the frustration on Cass's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Vespuci wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cass, who protects the arm well. Vespuci goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cass rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Vespuci's guard! Nice work there by Cass! Cass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Vespuci had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cass defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vespuci looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cass controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Vespuci keeping full guard, as Cass tries to pass. Cass slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Vespuci working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cass doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cass manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jacob Cass dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cass throws a shot to the body.
Vespuci defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cass. Vespuci tries for a takedown but Cass sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Vespuci doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cass cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vespuci stuffs the takedown. Cass throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vespuci's waist but Vespuci gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cass off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Cass. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cass changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vespuci tries to avoid it but Cass manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vespuci to the ground. Vespuci escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Vespuci dives in and grabs Cass's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cass pushes down on Vespuci's head and hops out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vespuci manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cass on his heels. He'll look to pass Cass's guard now, I'm sure. Vespuci drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Vespuci as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Cass screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Vespuci! Nice submission victory there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Tony Vespuci! Tony Vespuci bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
