Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Jackson (ranked 2129 p4p, 251 weight class) and David Gomes (ranked 1001 p4p, 122 weight class). Jackson comes into the arena with Ladies & Gentlemen blaring out of the sound system. Gomes has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music. David Gomes will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kurt Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Gomes! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson lands a jab to Gomes's midsection. Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gomes with the counter takedown but Jackson avoids it easily. Jackson lands a high kick!
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gomes blocks a head kick by Jackson.
Gomes takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jackson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gomes. Gomes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Gomes persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gomes is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Gomes trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom. Gomes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jackson is looking to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gomes trying to control but he's not successful this time. Gomes controlling from the full mount. Gomes works his way to his opponent's back.

Our spies down at at Brotherhood MMA (16 ELITE COACHES) inform us that Gomes has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Jackson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gomes's arms. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gomes biding his time, controlling Jackson.

Gomes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jackson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Jackson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Gomes's guard. Nice work there by Jackson.
Jackson gets to his feet. Gomes looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson thuds a left hand into Gomes's body. Jackson scores with a hook. A head kick from Jackson lands but Gomes takes it in his stride. Jackson scores with a head kick. Gomes tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. This has been an exciting period of action! Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gomes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Kurt Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab lands there for Jackson. Gomes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jackson sprawls well. Jackson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gomes gets slowly back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gomes dives in for a single leg takedown but Jackson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Gomes shoots in. Gomes has a takedown stuffed. Kurt Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Gomes. Jackson throws a head kick that Gomes semi-blocks.
It looks like David Gomes has been cut. Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Gomes counters with a takedown into side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomes advances to mount. Gomes controlling from mount. Gomes is trying to take his opponent's back.

Jackson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gomes can do to turn this around? Jackson tries to hold on but Gomes pushes him away. Gomes trying to control but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson regains half guard. Gomes trying to mount his opponent but Jackson defends it. Gomes passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jackson!

Gomes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jackson trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom. Gomes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson forces his way into half guard. Gomes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. David Gomes has got the better of the ground game so far. Gomes is still trying to improve position. Jackson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Gomes is pressing down on Jackson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jackson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ground and pound from Jackson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Jackson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gomes to his feet. Gomes shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jackson is looking to counter punch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomes is defended easily by Jackson. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jackson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gomes has his takedown stuffed and Jackson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gomes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jackson thinks about countering with a head kick. Gomes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jackson appears to be looking for a big counter. Kurt Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Gomes. Gomes is looking to clinch. A quick step to the side and Jackson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Gomes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard. Jackson wants to stand and escape but Gomes is having none of it. Gomes wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position. Gomes postures up.

Jackson is not content to let Gomes control the position. Gomes wants to pass the guard but Jackson is defending well. Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Gomes sits in half guard. Gomes wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position. Jackson is staying active underneath Gomes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Gomes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Gomes trying to mount his opponent but Jackson defends it. Jackson tries to roll over but Gomes keeps him under control. Gomes wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Gomes slips a jab and a cross from Jackson.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Gomes moves out of range easily. Jackson throws a right hand that Gomes ducks under and follows up with a left that Gomes also avoids with ease.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomes shoots in and drives through. Jackson sprawls well. Jackson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gomes counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jackson! Jackson is letting Gomes control him for a moment. Jackson is pushing Gomes's head away, looking to escape. Gomes manages to hold on to the position though. Kurt Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jackson wants to control but Gomes postures up. Jackson stops Gomes from passing to mount. Gomes staying calm. Gomes tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jackson's legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jackson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gomes has just dragged him back down to the mat. Gomes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool. Gomes trying to control the action but Jackson is working from the bottom. Jackson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gomes tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to David Gomes. I think Jackson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
