PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kraven Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJay Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that BJay Penn was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kraven Bush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, BJay Penn!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bush will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bush fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Penn sprawls well initially but Bush persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Penn wants to improve his position but Bush is controlling well.
Bush wants to free his trapped foot but Penn is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Penn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bush is working away from the top position though.

The fight stays on the outside here - Bush looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Penn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bush knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bush shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Penn counters with a single leg into guard. Bush didn't expect that.

and Penn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Penn.

Bush drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Penn gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Penn wants to control from the top but Bush keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Penn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Penn lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Bush has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Penn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Penn passes the guard and advances to mount!

Penn has control of Bush's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bush regains control of the situation pretty easily.

BJay Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Bush with a poor takedown

and Penn counters with a double leg. Bush bangs his head on the mat and seems to be on queer street here... Penn follows up with punches and the ref steps in to end the fight! It was the slam that caused all the problems.
