Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Lima (ranked 3019 p4p, 277 weight class) and Teshima Shigochiyo (ranked 1075 p4p, 129 weight class). Shigochiyo has chosen Yoshida Brothers - Rising as his entrance music. Teshima Shigochiyo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Teshima Shigochiyo!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lima shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shigochiyo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lima keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shigochiyo's head.
Lima slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shigochiyo keeps working.
Shigochiyo is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Shigochiyo preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Lima throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lima is stalling here. Shigochiyo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lima seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shigochiyo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shigochiyo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lima knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Shigochiyo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lima is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Shigochiyo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lima has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lima is not content to let Shigochiyo control the position.
Lima is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Westside Martial Arts that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Shigochiyo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shigochiyo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lima tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shigochiyo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lima is trying to control Shigochiyo's posture but Shigochiyo avoids it.

Shigochiyo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lima rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shigochiyo's guard! Nice work there by Lima!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shigochiyo is trying to keep Lima in close.

Shigochiyo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shigochiyo looking for a triangle here. Lima is fighting it but it looks tight! Shigochiyo pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Lima is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Teshima Shigochiyo!
Our winner, Teshima Shigochiyo, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
