Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Vendarra (ranked 5236 p4p, 459 weight class) and Gene Parmesan (ranked 1710 p4p, 206 weight class). Vendarra's entrance music is Metallica - Of Wolf And Man. A fine choice. Gene Parmesan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gene Parmesan!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parmesan looks to throw a body kick
and Vendarra cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Parmesan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Parmesan appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
A slapping leg kick lands for Vendarra.
No joy there for Parmesan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vendarra takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Nice jab there from Vendarra.
A punch lands to the side of Parmesan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Vendarra lands a big head kick that sends Parmesan tumbling to the mat! Vendarra takes a step backwards and waves Parmesan back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vendarra displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parmesan throws out the jab.
Parmesan connects with the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
That kick from Parmesan tenderised Vendarra's leg. Vendarra is trying to keep his angry face on.
Parmesan throws an off balance right hand
and Vendarra counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Parmesan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Parmesan!
Vendarra is rocked!
Parmesan throws a body shot but no joy.
Vendarra swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Parmesan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Parmesan lands a glancing blow to the side of Vendarra's head.
Good leg kick by Parmesan there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Parmesan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Vendarra has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Parmesan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Parmesan misses with a wild body shot.
Parmesan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Parmesan throws a leg kick but Vendarra sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Vendarra was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Parmesan listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Vendarra moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Parmesan throws a nice head kick!

Vendarra throws a leg kick but Parmesan checks it.
Vendarra really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Parmesan lands a right hook to the body.
Parmesan looks to score with a jab to the body but Vendarra is just out of range.
Parmesan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Vendarra on the side of the head.
Oh Vendarra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Parmesan lands with an overhand left.
Parmesan throws a leg kick that is checked
and Vendarra cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Parmesan lands with a shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Parmesan.
Vendarra feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Vendarra misses with a hook to the body
and Parmesan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Parmesan is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Vendarra had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Vendarra throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Parmesan lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Vendarra falls backwards - clearly groggy! Parmesan dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gene Parmesan!
