Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Krueger (ranked 4300 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azir Zarus (ranked 4524 p4p, 451 weight class). Azir Zarus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Krueger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Azir Zarus!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zarus closes the distance and pushes Krueger back into the cage.
Krueger has a couple of punches blocked by Zarus.

Zarus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Zarus doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Krueger counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Krueger fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Zarus pulls Krueger into guard.
Zarus is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Krueger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zarus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Krueger has managed to get both his arms back between Zarus's legs - danger averted.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krueger preventing the sweep.
Krueger trying to stand up but can't free himself from Zarus's guard.
Zarus has Krueger pulled in close to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Krueger trying to control but Zarus is working from the bottom.
Zarus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Krueger is looking to improve his position.
Zarus is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Zarus trying to mount his opponent but Krueger defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Krueger trying to control here.
Krueger missing with punches from the bottom.
Zarus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Zarus might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Zarus has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Zarus controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Krueger taking shots to the head.
Krueger tries to control Zarus's body but Zarus pushes him off. Krueger squirms to his side and now Zarus has his back!
Zarus landing with strikes.
Zarus is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Krueger up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
What can Krueger do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Zarus looking for the choke but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Azir Zarus dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Zarus goes for a double leg but Krueger avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Krueger continues to drive forward.

Zarus looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Krueger!
Zarus throws an elbow but Krueger slips to the side and avoids it well.
Azir Zarus has got the better of the ground game so far.
Krueger parries the strikes from Zarus easily there. Zarus is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Krueger to escape.
Krueger knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zarus on the ground.
A lull in the action here as Zarus stalls from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Krueger is trying to control Zarus's posture but Zarus avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zarus remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Krueger is looking for a sweep.
Zarus tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Zarus landing a few strikes.

Zarus has an Americana. Krueger didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Zarus is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Zarus hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Azir Zarus!
