Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Clinton (ranked 3480 p4p, 385 weight class) and Jorge Romero (ranked 2811 p4p, 329 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Clinton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jorge Romero!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clinton tries for a takedown but Romero circles away easily

and Romero counters with a shoot takedown. Clinton fights it but they end up in guard.
Romero slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Romero passes Clinton's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Romero is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Clinton has managed to free his arm - good work.
Clinton gets full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Romero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Romero seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Clinton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clinton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Let's hope that Romero has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've been hearing good reports from Clinton's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Clinton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Romero manages to get himself to full guard.

Romero seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Romero has his foot on Clinton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clinton works his way back into a safe position though.

Romero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Clinton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Romero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Clinton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Clinton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Romero is looking for a sweep. Clinton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Romero is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Clinton pulls his head out easily.

Clinton seems to be looking for submissions.
Romero is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Clinton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Clinton's back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clinton rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Romero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Romero is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Clinton is just riding it out for now. Romero eventually gives up the hold.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Romero shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clinton's guard.

Clinton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
