Valdez tries to roll over but Takeshi keeps him under control. Takeshi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takeshi connects with a nice short shot to Valdez's temple. Valdez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Takeshi looks to score some points with some ground and pound.#SUB2# Takeshi is working for a kimura but Valdez is defending it quite comfortably.

#R1# Valdez has a takedown stuffed. Akiyama dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Valdez. That did some damage! Valdez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Akiyama counters with an outside leg kick.
Valdez keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Akiyama. Akiyama feints and then cracks Valdez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Valdez down. Valdez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Akira Akiyama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of German Valdez. The fighters circling - Akiyama throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Valdez steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Akiyama. Akiyama cracks the inside of Valdez's front leg. Akiyama connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Valdez out cold! This one is over in a flash!

Lankari lands a couple of decent looking shots. Lankari is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lankari sitting in guard, not really doing much. Valdez wants to sweep here but Lankari controlling him for the moment. Valdez keeping full guard, as Lankari tries to pass. Lankari has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. Valdez takes a knee to the side of the body. Valdez tries to pull guard but Jag holds him up against the cage and eventually Valdez drops back down to his feet.

Valdez is looking to control Roman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Valdez avoid being mounted? Roman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Valdez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Roman tries to bum rush Valdez with a series of wild strikes but Valdez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. As Roman tries to get set, Valdez tries to push him back and clinch up but Roman manages to avoid the attempt. Roman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Horrible takedown attempt by Valdez or perhaps it was just good defense by Roman, which made it look bad.
