McTavish tries to kick Byrd off but Byrd keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McTavish avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Byrd. Byrd content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. #SUB# Byrd is working for a kimura but McTavish is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Byrd is trying to control. McTavish wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. #T1##SUB# Byrd is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Byrd, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. McTavish was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. McTavish rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Steel Penn counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.#TD2# Steel Penn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. McTavish is trying to stand up here but Steel Penn is controlling him well. McTavish tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Steel Penn manages to move to mount!
You get the feeling that McTavish really doesn't like being in this position too much.
